Mascara, deriving from the Italian word maschera, which means "mask" was created in 1913 by chemist T.L. Willams for his sister Mabel. This early mascara was made from coal dust mixed with Vaseline and formed into little cakes (hince creating cake mascara) . The mixture was such a success that Williams created a company, by combining his sister's name with the word Vaseline . That company, eventually became the leading force we today call Maybelline. It wasn't until 1957, that the mascara wand and tube was introduced to the cosmetic world by Helena Rubenstein.
I know, I know enough with the history lesson already but, I said all that stuff prior to show that mascara has come a long way. It started out as a creamy coal dust and vaseline cake applied to lashes with a hard small brush and now it has evolved into a rotating master peice.
I had the pleasue of trying out Spin Lash and I must say even before I put the rotating wand up to my lashes, I was impressed. Who would have thought that there would be a mascara that rotates 360 degrees, stops the clumping problems and curls your lashes all at the same time. SPINLASH utilizes a gently rotating synthetic brush that simultaneously combs and coats natural, unruly lashes – creating perfect lashes every time. I must say that I was a little scared that the wand might rip out my lashes but, because the wand rotates so slowly, it is practically impossible to get lashes caught or snagged. I was disappointed with the mascara that comes with the rotating wand as it didn't really give me va va voom lashes but, all and all I think this product is perfect for helping to de-clump, lengthen, and separate other mascara brands (i.e. Maybelline's The Colassal) .
