Hello Divas,
If you are like me and watch youtube videos, you have seen these brushes all over the youtube village as well as some blogs. Well because of the great reviews and raves on youtube. I decided to order a set for myself to see if these brushes lived up to the hype. Because of the popularity of theses brushes. They were on back ordered for a little over a month (I originally ordered these brushes in early May) and finally got them mid June. The wait was well worth it.
Sigma Makeup brushes are excellent, sturdy and well made. When they arrive to you they are all neatly housed in a mesh goody bag. Upon opening the goody bag you find that each brush is individually wrapped with a brush protector. Also in the goody bag is a postcard, brochure and a free E.L.F. eyeshadow trio. (for me it was a smokey eye trio) The names of each brush coordinates with the name of MAC's brushes. Example: the famous MAC 224 is equivalent to Sigma Makeup's SS224. There was only one brush out of the 12 piece set that was not identical to it counterpart and that was the SS239. It differs in the color as it is brown haired and MAC's is white and it is a little bigger. Like with most brushes I purchase. I test them out by giving them a heavy handed wash to see if there is a lot of shedding, bleeding, and to see if they dried well and stayed in its original shape and form.
Shedding, I did notice that a few of the bigger face brushes lost a few hairs. No major shedding just maybe 6 or so hairs came out of the SS150 brush. Bleeding, they all bleed a little as I assume that the hairs were dyed to make them look more professional and uniformed. The bleeding was no big deal for me because most new brushes bleed a little. They all dried very well and most importantly they dried back to the original shape and form.
Overall, these brushes are great and I'm not just saying that because of the outstanding price. $ 64.00 without brush roll & $79.00 with brush roll. These brushes have really become a staple in my everyday makeup application. I am finding more and more that I'm really liking some of these brushes such as (SS224 & SS239) more than the MAC version.
You can buy these brushes individually or in sets. The sets to me give you more bang for your buck.
Here what you get in the complete face and eye set

In addition to this set above I also brought MAC's dupe of the 109 brush.
